Supplies can be returned/exchanged within 10 days of the first academic day of your class with a valid register receipt. Note: This is usually 6-8 days for Summer Term. Following this return period, supplies may be returned/exchanged within 2 business days of purchase with a valid receipt. All return/exchange supplies must be presented with original packaging and owners manual. The following items will not be accepted for return if opened, but may be exchanged for the exact same item. Computer Products 

Computers may not be returned to the store. Please contact the manufacturer for all questions and support. Software must be returned unopened with an original receipt. Textbooks 

Textbooks purchased ONLINE or in the store may be returned to the GTCC Jamestown Bookstore 10 Days from the first day of classes. During Summer Term, this time period is 6-8 days and will be posted on your receipt. If not during RUSH, you have 48 Hours from the date of purchase.You MUST present an original valid receipt and your (Student I.D. or Drivers License) to receive a refund within this given time period. Why does the Bookstore have Fin. Aid charging dates for purchases and refunds to Fin. Aid accounts and why can’t we charge all semester?

GTCC’s disbursement of Title IV Aid(Pell Grant, Student Loans) awards are governed by the U.S. Dept. of Education rules. According to the DOE, institutions must disburse Pell and Student Loan funds to their students within a given time frame each semester.  GTCC’s policy is to allow charging and refunds to these accounts as well as sponsorships and scholarships for the advertised dates at the beginning every term.   In order to accurately process student disbursement checks/direct deposits in the timeline required by the DOE rules, there must be an end date.  The refund and exchange policy for the GTCC Bookstores also follows these same dates at the beginning of each term.

Why can’t students make purchases or do a refund/exchange past those dates?

Once a course has started and the Fin. Aid and Return-Exchange deadline date has passed the course materials are not eligible for return or exchange as GTCC considers you enrolled in this course for the semester. This is the same for credit card, cash or check sales. The refund/exchange policy is always posted online at http://bookstore.gtcc.edu/refund-exchange-policy/ , listed in brief at the top of every receipt and posted in every store. In addition GTCC must then quickly prepare all accounts for disbursement to thousands of students, so, this does not allow for the stores to make changes to student aid balances.

So what can I do to recoup some cost of the course materials?

If you missed the return/exchange deadline and/or have withdrawn/dropped a course, you can still sell the book back to the bookstore during the buyback period, sell them online with free shipping to our vendor- MBS http://onlinebuyback.mbsbooks.com/index.php?jde=4289 or sell to another student. -For more information please see the following links from the Dept. of Education and GTCC:
